Personal Assistant Tickets:
For Festival goers requiring an additional ticket for their Personal Assistant (aka carer or companion) can receive these free of charge. To claim your personal assistant ticket please email accessibility@ticketquarter.co.uk
There will be a specific queue lane for accessible tickets at point of entry.
Seating:
There is no seating on the festival site. Audience members are permitted to bring blankets and folding chairs. We advise getting there early to find a good spot.
Toilets:
There are accessible toilets located on site. We have stewarding around the toilet areas. These are for disabled people and those with long term impairments or conditions that might mean they cannot use the other toilets on site.
Special Effects:
Please be aware this is a music festival and there will be strobe lighting, flicker effects, lasers and other variable lighting throughout the day. We recommend you take extra precautions if you know you are affected by such lighting.
Viewing Platform:
There will be an accessible viewing platform on site. The viewing platform is a service we offer for our deaf and disabled audience and will be staffed throughout both days. Please do let staff know if you need any assistance. This is located near the stage. Capacity is managed on site and cannot be prebooked.
Level Access:
The site is a largely flat greenfield site. There are small hilly grass sections meaning that sometimes access across these areas of the site is not that easy, especially in bad weather conditions. The site is approximately 0.5 miles from one side to another. Maximum distance from a point A to B across site for festival goers is 263 meters.
Guide dogs and task trained assistance dogs are very welcome at the festival, and there will be water available for these dogs at the Access Tent.
First Aid:
There will be a First Aid point on site, please head here for your medical needs.
British Sign Language (BSL):
Our amazing interpreters will be providing BSL on stage at Africa Oyé. Due to the nature of our festival, the majority of the acts do not sing in English. We always try our best to make sure where possible the service is available. Any important stage announcements and information, such as lost children and first aid call outs will be provided in BSL on-stage between acts.
ACCESS TENT
The Access Tent is a place for disabled people and carers / companions to relax and find out festival information. There will be free British Sign Language (BSL) workshops running throughout day for hearing people and our Oye Access Tent volunteers also use BSL, offering a useful resource for information for D/deaf audience members. You will be able to find this tent next to the First Aid station. Look for the Access Tent sign.
The Access Tent is also a quiet space for those who feel they really need to take a break from the festival. In previous years, we’ve found this to be particularly helpful to disabled people, their carers and companions.
There will be free BSL workshops for hearing people and BSL support for Deaf audience members throughout day! You will be able to find this tent next to First Aid marked with a sign saying ‘Access Tent’. People can make use of this tent for:
A space to relax:
The Oyé Access Tent will be a place where you can take a moment to relax, sit in the shade of a tent and have some time out from the festival. There will also be a dog bowl of water for thirsty Assistance Dogs.
Festival information:
You will be able to get information about the festival in accessible formats. We will have large print schedules for those who need large print and a large print site map for easy navigation. For BSL users, our Oyé volunteers can translate the information for you in person at the Access Tent.
Toilet:
There will be accessible toilets stationed by the access tent. These are strictly for use by disabled people who may not be able to use other facilities and we trust that all festival-goers respect the importance of that provision.
Shelter from rain:
The Access Tent will be a priority cover area in case of rain, if you do need assistance please do head to the Access Tent and the team will try their best to help.
Extra Assistance:
If at any point you need help or know anyone who needs assistance or you are feeling overwhelmed and need to take a break, please do visit the Access Tent and the team will try their best to help.
